On Wednesday, January 4, 1989, the final chapter of the life of our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister Mrs. Matilda Cato Collins was closed by the Angel of Silence at the Memorial Hospital ofWashington County, Sandersville, Georgia. She was born on October 23, 1909 in Sandersville, Washington County, Georgia to the late Mr. Boise Cato and Mrs. Julia Miller Cato.

 

At an early age, she joined the Swint Spring Baptist Church. Later she became a member of the Robin Spring BaptistChurch, and served in various capacities, including Sunday School Teacher, President and VicePresident of the Missionary Department, Deaconess. She was a member of Community Aid Society and the Independent Society.

 

She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Glenn M. Collins, Sr.  This union was blessed with twelve children, four of whom preceded her into death. She was a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother. Her family remembers her for her cooking. Her grandchildren would come to visit and she would make sure they left with extra meat on their bones.She made rummage stew, dressing, & delicious cakes. She also raised chickens, gardened, and made the fluffiest biscuits.
